Your tour starts with some tea & cake and then we jump on our bikes to cycle down the secret track from Landol directly to Predjama castle. Your first view of this fairy tale castle is from a unique vantage
point the bus loads of tourists will never see! We will take about an hour to explore this incredible castle and discover the legend of the cheeky Baron Erazmus. Back on our bikes, the next stop will be a huge wooden barn called the Toplar museum, where we will see a fantastic display of antique agricultural tools & machinery. This museum is located just where the old Roman trade road passed through to Venice and you can see the carts used to haul huge timbers to the ship yards. We will also try the local sausage delicacy of čevapčiči! Afterwards we will cycle through many stunning villages, along fantastic cycle tracks, through beautiful farmland and across a gushing river, all in view of the majestic Nanos mountain, so we will see the very best of the green Slovenian countryside.
Extended tour: The tour can be extended into a whole day trip. We will add a bonus to see the village of Little Nut (Orehek) with its crumbling Castle and Church. We will also stop in Hruševje, where we will try some more typical slovenian food! |
